In
modern society, people can transact almost everything with the developed
capitalism. Sometimes we can find something weird in markets. For example, in
some countries like Japan, people sometimes buy friends for showing off their
sociality in special occasions. Moreover, sperms and ovums can be dealt to help
infertile couples to have their babies. With this trend, it might be considered
natural that human’s organs could be in market. However, selling organs is
still controversial because it is related to ethical issue. Some people argue
there is no reason to prohibit selling organs, while others refute by reason of
ethical conviction. However, selling organs must be legal.
First reason why selling organs should be
allowed is that all people have a right to live healthy and normal life. People
with health problems are usually not be able to move freely and to do what they
want like other healthy people. This kind of disability could make them
frustrated and pessimistic for their lives. However, if selling organs is not
allowed, the supply of organs would stay much lower than demand since the
patients should expect someone to give their organs for no reason.
In
addition, selling organs could be an effective way for someone with serious
financial problem to revive. Sometimes we can see people who find no way to solve
financial problem by themselves and finally get to tragic situation like
becoming homeless, and killing themselves. For them, selling their organs which
do not cause health problem could be a valuable chance to start new life. It is
obvious that living without an unimportant organ to life is much better than
becoming homeless or killing themselves.
More
importantly, paying the price for someone who gives his/her organ makes more
sense than paying nothing. Donation is definitely invaluable and respectable
behavior. However it is never easy to give a part of body for another person.
Even though donating organ needs lots of courage, many donors are not paid for
their sacrifice. If transplanting organs is able to be allowed, there might be
no reason to prohibit selling organs because compensating for some sacrifice is
more moral and natural than taking something for free.
Some
people might think that we cannot buy and sell out body parts because they
belong to God not to human being. However, considering that almost everyone
tries to live longer against naturally occurring diseases, we could know this
reasoning makes no sense. If they think our own body belongs to God, why ever
they make so many efforts to get a healthy body by eating all kinds of
artificial drugs? They are overreacting to selling organs just because it is
unfamiliar to them.
To sum up, selling organs makes it possible
to kill two birds with one stone since is allow more patients to have healthier
life while helping peoples who sell their organs to get new opportunity by
giving them lots of money. To be open-minded to accept new trends is usually
hard, but it is also worth in order to take many advantages from new and
unfamiliar things. So we have to be more acceptive of selling organs by
considering some benefits of it because it could be a great opportunity for
both receiver and giver.
