Let's reduce intake of meat !

Even though I am not a vegetarian, I have some friends who are vegetarians. Whenever I asked them why they never eat meat, I could be heard about the reason why they do that, which is related to immoral eating habits of contemporaries. People in modern society have a tendency to make food, especially meat, by using inhuman ways. For example, lots of fowls are stuck in their cage only allowed to eat, sleep, and lay eggs. The similar way is also adapted to other different species including pigs, cows, sheep, etc.

It is probably natural to eat another species according to food chain in eco system. However, at the same time, we cannot live without other species, and we do not have any right to dominate them at all. Therefore, we need to be more responsible of eating them, being moderate in raising and confining them.

However I agree that only a few people never eating meat cannot change this trend. Moreover, in spite of my realization demanding changes in eating habit, I am still eating meat every week. Then what we have to do to be responsible for eating other species by not using in human ways? It could be a reasonable solution to reduce intake of meat gradually. According to a research found in a newspaper, eating meat is not only unnecessary for people, but also harmful for health causing some lifestyle diseases because of fat from meat.  Therefore, taking in protein form tofu or beans, instead of  meat could make people more humane as well as healthy.

How to clsssify lots of crimes

On every mornings, we can hear about lots of news related to various crimes which threaten the peace of the society. It is definitely obvious that we should stand against various kinds of crimes, since by doing so, we could make our society more stable. Then, what can be the first step to deal with the crimes well? Since the ways to oppose crimes are decided depending on the kind of them, classifying them should be the first step. Even though there are varied classification methods to assort crimes, the most widespread method is to classify them roughly according to whether it is violent crime or intellectual property crime.

Comparing to intellectual property crime, violent crime could be more serious because of possibility to hurt people physically. For example, murder, kidnapping, threatening, robbery, arson, rape, and assault, which are included in a violent crime have lots of effect on health of victim not only physically, but also mentally.

On the other hand, intellectual property crime have less direct effect on health of victim. It is because this kind of crimes is usually related to property as you can guess from its name. It includes fraud, plagiarism, copyright infringement, and hacking. Even though it cannot hurt people directly, it can cause serious confusion in societies by making victims frustrated. Also, it is becoming serious problem because with developed information technology, this kind of crime happens more frequently than ever.

These two kinds of crimes have to be dealt with different ways because two of them have different purposes of crime and different effects on victims. Therefore, a profound discussion is needed to find out the right method to cope with them. With this, we could reduce the crime and make the world more peaceful.

Awful happening at an airport!

In these days, I am living in Chicago, one of the most exciting cities in the U.S, with studying English, making lots of friends, and learning a new culture. However, all of these things came close to being impossible because of my absurd mistake I did before boarding a plane to come here. So I might have returned to Korea without any experience in the U.S if there hadn't been some lucks for me!

Before I came to Chicago, I had had to stopover at San Francisco so as to spend time with my friend living in there. So it was at the airport located in San Francisco that I had to go through immigration . When I arrived at the airport in San Francisco, it was so natural that I was exhausted because I had been staying for a 13 hours at an extremely stuffy seat. In addition, I had to wait for a long time to get an admission to enter U.S. After lots of waiting in a long time, finally I got a chance to face an officer who could let me go out the airport.

But at that time, the only thing I could get is the shock caused by the fact that I couldn't go out the airport. It was because I had brought a significant paperwork for entering the U.S, which is not original but copied. So, the officer, who changed so rapidly from friendly old man to aggressive one, sent me to a strange office crowded with some people seeming frightened like me. While waiting at the office, I couldn't even imagine what I have to do, what will happen, and how long I have to be in this awful place.

After about an hour of anxiety, I could hear someone looking for me. With very quickened heartbeat, I got up and plodded to an officer who never smiled and kept frowning at me. Even though I had made some excuses and prepared what I have to tell him during the last hour, I couldn't remember it at all in front of this aggressive face. The only I could do was repeating "I...just.. forgot to bring it.. Sorry..." To my great embarrassment, I even couldn't understand what he was saying aggressively. At last, the boss of him came to the office while the officer was still putting his back up on me.

Then, I could see that they were making somewhat serious conversation concerning how they can deal with my situation. After a long conversation, the boss, who looked also scary and much more strict, went out. I was still with petrified expression because I had no idea about what was going on. I felt like time had stopped. Finally, the officer came to me and told me that the boss of him had decided to allow me to go out the airport exceptionally. And also, he added I was in unprecedented lucky situation because the boss of him was originally not the person who make exception like this.

Finally, I was able to go out such a dreadful office. Although I had felt lots of tiredness before, I forgot it in that office because of a great sense of fear. Still now, whenever I remind the experience, I can feel my heartbeat increase dramatically. After this terrible situation, I made my decision to be much more careful about my paperwork when I travel. Moreover, I could be able to review how important a caginess is. I made myself a promise never to let this kind of foolish situation happen in the future!

Let me introduce myself and my partner :)

Hi my name is SooHyun. (you can call me just as Sue.)
I am from South Korea and now living in Chicago to study English.
I have at least 4 months to stay here and so i am expecting life in Chicago.

And my partner is Maria from Venezuela located in South America.
She majored in Engineering and she is also staying here to learn English. She told me that she just graduated from her university, and that she is planning to get a job when she finish the courses in school.

Because i am majoring in Literature while she is interested in mathematics or science, I think we are good at different things. However, at the same time, because now we have the same goal which is learning English, I also think we are in the very similar life nowadays. We are studying in same school and classes with using same language !
In addition, even though we are from very different background including educational situation or language, we have the similar interest and life style in certain fields. For example, she likes listening to pop-musics, watching movies and spending time with her family on holidays, and these things is what I like too. Moreover, We even find that both of us are somewhat sensitive person.

So I felt that I can be a friend and share my feeling or thoughts despite some differences cause by different background. It would be great if one day we go out to eat deep-dish pizza which is the favorite food in Chicago for both of us !
